An information board records: Anglican Church - St Andrews-by-the-Sea - The congregation consisted of some station folk, the men from a road gang, some pyjama-clad children and a couple of dogs. - West Australian Church News, 1946 - It was many years before a church was built in Denham. Spiritual guidance was provided by visiting leaders of all denominations who held services wherever needed. Later the Shire Hall was used - St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe in London was destroyed by German bombing in December 1940. The idea emerged to build a new St Andrew's, in the Anglican diocese of North West Australia. The small community in Shark Bay provided the labour to saw, cut and cart the Hamelin Pool shell blocks required. The building was opened and consecrated in June 1954. |

The St Andrew's-by-the-Sea Anglican Church, Denham is in the Parish of Shark Bay and part of the Diocese of North West Australia. The present church building was built out of coquina shell block quarried at neaby Hamlin. The funding of the construction came from the 'League of Help' an English organisation committed to building churches overseas. The church building was opened and consecrated on 6/6/1954 by Bishop Frewer. A vestry was added in 1966, which was dedicated on 31/7/1966 by Bishop Howell.
