Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church

The Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Kalumburu is in the Parish of Kalumburu and the Diocese of Broome. In 1937 the Drysdale River Mission in Pago relocated to Kalumburu (20kms south) where greater rainfall and a more fruitful area proved to be more prosperous for the remote mission. In 1981 the Kalumburu Mission, which was the 'Mission Sui Juris' under the jurisdiction of the Benedictines at New Norcia, was transferred back into the Diocese of Broome (Sourced from: http://broomediocese.org/our-history/).
