The Stephen's Anglican Church, Warrandyte was opened and dedicated on 16/9/1906 by Archbishop Lowther Clarke. However, while the first service was held in the district on 17/8/1851, and land had been dedicated by the government for a church in 1869 the church was not built until 1906. Before the church building was erected sevices were held in the home of Henry Frencham. Unfortunately the 1906 building was destroyed in the 1939 bushfire, and the present church building was erected in 1940.
