The St James the Great Anglican Church, St Kilda East is part of the Diocese of Melbourne. Prior to the establishing of St James, the congregation worshipped with the students of St John's Theological College, in their chapel, at 195-201 Alma Road. However, it had become too small and the members of the congregation petitioned the Archbishop for a church of their own. St James was established in 1914 and the church was opened on 23/6/1915. The church is Anglo-Catholic in tradition, and celebrated its centenary in November 2015. Over the years many additions and alterations have been made to the building to meet the needs of the congregation. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 10/8/2021.
