Foundation Stone Notes:	The first church building was a portable construction dedicated on 17/2/1952. Later building foundation stones record: (1) To the Glory of God - this foundation stone was laid on - 28th March 1953 - by The Rt Hon R G Menzies CH., QC., MP - Prime Minister of the - Commonwealth of Australia - Minister ~ The Rev J M Young BA BD. (2) To The Glory of God - and - for the service of this community - this stone was laid by - Rev H Clarnette - President of The Conference - 12th July 1953. A plaque records: The congregation of - St Columba's Uniting Church - amalgamated with - Koonung Heights Uniting Church - in May 2014.

Comments

The genesis of the Koonung Uniting Church began with a small group meeting in July 1950. It began as a Methodist Church but over the years, before Union in 1977, had been joined by the local Presbyterian Church. In May 2014 the St Columba's Uniting Church also amalgamated with it.
