A plaque in front of the church records: Gallipoli Centenary 2015 - The original flagpole and yardarm on this site was gifted to - Saint Nicholas Anglican Church Mordialloc by HMAS Cerberus - in the Bi-Centennial Year 1988. - Its replacement in 2015 was donated by the Longreach RSL as part - of a local Mordialloc Community Project commemorating - the Centenary Year of the Dardanelles and Gallipoli campaign - where the ANZAC traditions were born. - This commemorative plaque attests to and honours the valour, - sacrifice and service of Australian Naval and Army personnel who - served our nation during the 1915 joint campaign. - 'Ode of Remembrance" - They went with songs to the battle, they were young, - Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. - They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted; - They fell with their faces to the foe. - They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; - Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. - At the going down of the the sun and in the morning - We will remember them. - "Lest  We Forget". (Part of the poem 'For the Fallen' by Laurence Binyon)....
