The former St Andrew's Catholic Church, Laggan was opened on 20/3/1865. It was erected on land given by Daniel O'Brien to be used for a Church, School and Burial Ground. The church was closed and the building demolished when the new church building was erected in the village, and opened on 21/6/1925 (see separate entry - 2583). Sadly, the first person buried in the cemetrey was Daniel O'Brien's son, who died on 21/2/1868, aged 23 after being struck by a falling tree. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photograph uploaded 13/4/2025.
