An historical notice board records: The church started in a tent church in the early 1850s...[the current church] was built in 1863 at a cost of 800 [pounds]. The Jubilee Sunday School, which was added to the site in 1887, was designed by Melbourne architect Evandor McIvor. A parsonage was build in 1880 and an infant school and kindergarten in 1903...

Two foundation stone tablets on the Jubilee Sabbath School building record:

• 1886 - Jubilee Year - Memorial stone laid by - Mr Edwin F Peters - School Secretary since - 1866 - And Thou descending fill the place - with choicest tokens of Thy Grace.
• 1886 - Jubilee Year - Memorial stone laid by - Mr Walter T Hansford JP - School Superindent since - 1866 - These walls we to God's honour raise - long may they echo to His praise.
