Comments

This former Dixons Creek Uniting Church is now closed, and the property has been sold. It was the fourth Dixons Creek Methodist Church building erected in the district. The first was erected about 1881, on land donated by Mr Henry Robinson. By the early 1900s it was in poor condition, and had become inadequate for the congregation. A new church building, on a site next to the school, was constructed by voluntary labour, on land donated by Mr William Bell. It was destroyed by bushfire in 1926, and a replacement was erected in 1927. This building was destroyed in the 1939 bushfire. The present building was opened on 29/9/1940 by the Rev Greenwood. The church held its final service in this bulding on 17/9/1995, conducted by the Rev Claire Tanner. [Sourced from: http://www.yarraglenhistory.com.au/img/uploaded/242007Jul.pdf]. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 18/9/2017 & 10/6/2021.
