The St Joseph's Catholic Church, Lexton is part of the Parish of Wendouree (with Our Lady Help of Christians, Wendouree and St John's, Waubra) in the Diocese of Ballarat. The first Mass was celebrated in the area by a travelling priest in 1851, and was held in the hall of the Lexton Hotel. However, the first church building was not opened until 29/7/1894, when it was dedicated by Dr James Moore, Bishop of Ballarat. The original building wa s replaced when the current building, which was largely constructed by volunteer labour, was opened on 9/10/1977, by the Bishop of Ballarat. More historical information/photographs of the church congregation are invited. Photograph uploaded 4/10/2026.
