The former Lexton Uniting Church has closed, and the property has been sold (about 2010?). The church had been part of the Presbytery of Western Victoria in the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The earliest Methodist worship service in the area was held in the home of Mr J Simkin in 1856, at the site of the present church building. The land was subsequently given to the Methodist church for the erection of a church building, which was opened on 26/7/1863. The present 1890s chapel building was brought from Clemenston, near Creswick, in 1912, with some additions made to it about 1950. The Methodist Church became part of the Uniting Church in 1977. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 4/10/2026.
