Foundation Stone Notes: A heritage plaque at St Mary's Catholic Church records: St Andrew's Presbyterian Church - On 30th September 1868 Rev J Nish of Sandhurst laid the foundation stone for St Andrew's Presbyterian church on the 'Protestant side' of High Street, where the Raglan Hotel, frequented by non-Catholic drinkers, was also located. The Presbyterian Church building, opened in 1869, was designed by Joseph Brady and constructed by local stonemason, David Mill, from bluestone supplied by Napthali Ingham from Axedale quarry...St Andrew's Presbyterian Church became part of the Uniting Church of Australia in 1980. The church, at 80 High Street, Axedale, contines to offer services today.
