Apollo Bay Methodist Church - Former

The former Apollo Bay Methodist Church, closed many years ago and the congregation became part of the St Andrew's/Apollo Bay Uniting Church in the late 1950s, many years before the formation of the Uniting Church in 1977. The site of the 1886 Apollo Bay Methodist Church building was on the triangular piece of land bordered by Nelson & McLaren Streets and the Great Ocean Road. In 1888 it was determined that the building illegally occupied Crown land. It was moved to Noel Street by Harold Dickason, using a horse and dray. It was moved again fifty years later to 3 Moore Street, by Mr Dickason's son, this time using a truck. It was moved again in the late 1950s to Nelson Street, the site of the former St Andrew's Presbyterian Church (see separate entry for the St Andrew's Uniting Church - 3233).
