The former Armadale Uniting Church held its final service on 4/5/2025, and the property has now been sold (2025). The church had been a part of the Port Phillip East Presbytery and the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The genesis of the church seem to stem from about 1876, when the Toorak Presbyterian Church began a Sunday School in Orrong Road, followed by the Armadale Methodist Church in 1881, when it purchased a dance hall in Boundary Road (renamed Kooyong Road). The first church service at the Koorong Road site was held on 20/8/1881. The foundation stone of the present church building was laid by Mr James Munro, who was later Premier of Victoria, and funded the purchase of the land for the church, plus a donation towards the construction cost. The church was erected for the Wesleyan Methodist Church, which became part of the Methodist Church at Union, in 1902, and part of the Uniting Church in 1977. The Wesley Hall was erected in 1928, and opened in 1929, with funding from Mrs E R Moran. Over the years a number of other churches have been incorporated into the Armadale church, including The Armadale (St Andrew's) Presbyterian Church (Denbigh Street) and the Armadale Methodist Church (Kooyong Road), together with other Methodist and Congregational churches which had operated in the Armadale, Toorak and Prahran areas. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 4/12/2025.
