Comments

The former St John's Anglican Church, Plenty has now closed, and the property was sold about 2022. It was part of the Diocese of Tasmania. The church building was opened on 16/7/1849, on land donated by Mr George Frederick Read. However, due to issues relating to the transfer of the property, it was not consecrated until 14/10/1852. The church had a close association with the Read family and contains memorial stained glass windows. The Read family vault is also located in the adjoining cemetery. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 9/6/2023.
