The Salvation Army - Dewent Valley Corps (formerly New Norfolk) - the earliest reference to the Salvation Army in New Norfolk dates from about 1911, although litte information is known, and they withdrew in 1920. A Corps was re-established in 1936, with meetings being held in the library. Following a donation of 500 pounds from L M Shoobridge, MLC the building of a hall gained momentum. In February 1941, Lieutenant-Commissioner W R Dalziel opened a hall in Hackett Street. By 2003 the hall had become too small, and after it was vacated the Corps met in the Seventh-day Advent Church, until their present building was erected in Hamilton Road. More historical information/photographs of the church/corps are invited. Photographs uploaded 8/6/2023.
