Comments

The Scots Uniting Church, Sorell is no loger functioning, and ceased regular services about 2020. The church had been part of the Presbytery of Tasmania and the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The present church building, erected on land donated by Mr Andrew Counsel, was opened on 24/4/1842. Throughout its long history the supply of a permanent minister has been a regular problem. For the period 1879 to 1884, the building was used by the St George's Anglican congregation, while their church building was erected. Their earlier building having been condemned as unsafe. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 1/5/2023.
