The former St Attracta's Catholic Church, Smithton closed about 1978, when the congregation moved to a new church building, St Peter Chanel's in Sampson Street (see separate entry - 7330). The church building was opened on 21/10/1934 by His Grace, Archbishop Hayden. The St Attracta's property also housed a school and convent, which have now been sold. St Attracta's, built in 1934, was the first Catholic church building in Smithton, with earlier services held in various locations, including the state school and Malley's Hall. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photograph uploaded 18/4/2023.
