Comments
The Beaconsfield Uniting Church is part of the Presbytery of Tasmania and the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The church was prominent in the 2006 mine disaster/rescue. Precursor churches included:
- The Primitive Methodists began in Beaconsfield about 1857, with their first church building erected in 1878. As it became too small a second was erected/opened on the same site on 3/11/1883. This church closed in 1902, when it merged with the Wesleyans to form the Beaconsfield Methodist Church. The building remained unitil 1936, when it was moved to become the Beauty Point Methodist Church. It is now the Beauty Point Uniting Church..
- The Wesleyan Methodist's early services were held under a tree, with their first church building opened in 1882. It was replaced by the current building in 1900. It became the Beaconsfield Methodist Church, when it merged in 1902. It is now the Beaconsfield Uniting Church.
