Comments

The former St Barnabas' Anglican Church, Sheffield closed in 1978, and the property was sold. It had been part of the Parish of Clarence South and the Diocese of Tasmania. Early Anglican services in the district were held in Roland Hall, until the church building was opened on 9/6/1891, by Bishop Montgomery. A chancel was subsequently added in 1911, and a vestry in 1927. However, by 1978 the property no longer met the needs of the congregation and a new church building was erected in Nightingale Avenue (see separate entry - 7306). More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 6/4/2023.
