The former Kempton Presbyterian Church held its last service in the 1950s, and the property was subsequently sold. The church had been part of the Presbyterian Church of Tasmania. The earliest services in the district began about 1869, conducted by visiting ministers. Formal appointments to carry out the ministry were made when the Rev Joseph Black was appointed in 1874 and the Rev. Henry Hull in 1884. At this time services were conducted in the Kempton Lecture Hall. It was then decided it was time for the congregation to have its own building. This resulted in the present church building being erected, on land donated by Mr James Haddon, and opened on 4/7/1886, by the Rev Joseph Black, a former minister1. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 12/6/2025.
