The foundation stone was laid on 12/5/1869 in the presence of the Right Rev Dr Murphy, Bishop of Hobart, together with the Bishops of Brisbane, Bathurst and Maitland.

A stone records: "In Affectionate Remembrance of - The Venerable Archdeacon Hogan - fifty years resident pastor, Westbury - this tower and clock have been erected - by friends of all denominations - AD 1901."

Comments

The Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Westbury is part of the Parish of Meander Valley and the Diocese of Hobart. The earliest Masses at Westbury date from about 1847, with the first small wooden church building opened about 1855. With a growing congregation a much larger church building was required, and the present church building was opened on 20/5/1874.
