Comments

The former Terowie Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, closed many years ago. Mr Mitchell, who had built Terowie as a private town in contravention of his lease conditions, granted land behind his hotel and a gave gift of 50 pounds to erect a chapel, which appeased his breach with the Commissioner for Crown Lands, and hence not take back his lesehold1. Terowie, is where the US General Douglas MacArthur, during a stop to change trains is reported to have said, 'I will return'. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 6/3/2024.
