The foundation stone of the present church building was laid on 27/10/1902 by the Archbishop of Sydney and Primate of Australia, Dr W Saumarez-Smith, accompanied by Bishops of Adelaide, Christchurch New Zealand, Tasmania, Melanesia and New Guinea, 80 preists and 2000 people. The Church congress was in Adelaide at that time.

The St George the Martyr Anglican Church, Goodwood is part of the Diocese of Adelaide. The first church building was opened on 8/10/1881.
