The foundation stone for the present church building records: This stone was laid to the Glory of God by the Right Hon Sir S J Way, Bar., July 23, 1904. [the Chief Justice of SA].

A foundation stone for the Sunday School hall records: To the Glory of God - This stone was laid by Rev W Alfred Longsford - President of the Conference - on Thursday July 31st 1924.

The Balaklava Uniting Church is part of the Generate Presbytery in the Uniting Church Synod of South Australia. The church functions in conjunction with the Port Wakefield Uniting Church (see separate entry - 5550).The church began when visiting preachers initially held services in a wheat shed. About 1871 the members of the Bible Christian Church erected a church building. This building, which was for a period also used as a school, continued in use until the present structure was erected in 1904. The Bible Christian Church became part of the Methodist Church at Union in 1902, which became part of the Uniting Church in 1977. In 1924 a new Sunday School hall was erected to replace an earlier wooden structure. The porch and stained glass windows were added in 1926. The church celebrated its seventy-fifth anniversary in November 1946. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 30/12/020.
