The Neukirch Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Ebenezer is part of the Barossa North Lutheran Parish (with Holy Trinity, Nuriootpa; Strait Gate, Light Pass; St John's, Ebenezer; St John's, Dutton; Immanuel, Truro; St Thomas, Stockwell and Immanuel, Light Pass) in the SA-NT District of the Lutheran Church of Australia. The church began in the home of Mr Adam Bartsch in 1848, due to a potential divide in the Ebenezer congregation. The growing congregation soon needed a church building, and so the present building was erected and opened in May 1859. Over the years a number of improvements have been made, including replacing the thatched roof with an iron one in 1906, the addition of a ceiling in 1909 and in 1925 the addition of the porch and a choir gallery. In 1939, at the church's seventy-fifth anniversary, it was named 'Pilgre Kirche' , Pilgrim Church. Until that time the church was nemeless1. A cemetery is located adjacent to the church, which functioned from about 1859-1874, and holds the remains of many early pioneers. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 18/11/2019 & 27/9/2026.
