The former Sts Phillip & James Catholic Church, Appila closed in 1997, and the property has been sold. The church had been part of the Booleroo Centre Parish and the Diocese of Port Pirie. The church building was opened and blessed by Bishop Reynolds on 14/5/1876. The final Mass was celebrated by Father Nicholas Canny and Father Paul Bourke, on the 27/4/1997. The Sisters of St Joseph operated a school in the church building from 1877 to 1891. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited.
