The former St Patrick's Catholic Church, Undalya closed in 1916, with the building being demolished in 1925. The church building, although incomplete, was opened on 17/4/1864 by the Vicar-General Fr Ryan. The building was finally completed in 1866. It was erected on land donated by Partick McNamara (although some dispute that it may have been Stephen Donnely - Patrick's father-in-law). With the decline of Undalya and the growth of Auburn and Clare, the church closed in 1916. The Catholic community then bought the former Methodist Church in Auburn and established Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, in Auburn. A coping stone from the original St Patrick's has been installed in the St Patrick's Catholic Cemetery to mark the original site of the church. The building of the church was associated with the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits)1. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 10/2/2024.
