The St Catherine's Catholic Church, Pekina is part of the Booleroo Centre Parish and the Diocese of Port Pirie. The first St Catherine's was opened on 22/10/1876 by the Right Rev Dr Reynolds, Bishop of Adelaide, and was also used as a school. The present church building was erected beside the earlier building, and opened on 4/10/1925 by Dr Andrew Killian, Bishop of Port Augusta. The church for a period was also a Cathedral church for Bishop Maher, who resided in the Presbytery with a number of other priests, and whose grave and Memorial Stone are in the church grounds. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 1/2/2024.
