Foundation Stone Notes:	The foundation stone of the present church building was laid on 26/6/1897 by Very Rev Dean Marryat, it recorded: A M D G - 1897. The foundation stone for the chancel was laid on 12/9/1901 by Bishop Short. The text on this foundation stone is not known. Information/photographs are invited. A commemorative stone tablet records: 1997 - Centenary - Time capsule - 2097.

Comments

The St Matthew's Anglican Church, Quorn is part of the Parish of Port Augusta/Quorn and the Diocese of Willochra. The present church building was opened on 21/9/1897, with a chancel added and opened on 26/2/1902. This building replaced an earlier weatherboard structure which was opened on 26/9/1880 by Bishop Short. The final service in the old church was held on 19/9/1897. A time capsule was laid under a stone tablet to commemorate the centenary of the church in 1997, to be opened in 2097. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.
