Comments

This former Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Alawoona was deconsecrated in 1995, after which the property was sold. The church had been part of the SA-NT District of the Lutheran Church of Australia. The first Lutheran service in the district was held in a private home in 1917. Services continued in private homes until the Institute building was erected and the Methodist Church building. On 17/12/1933 a meeting was held where it was decided to erect a church building. The church building was opened on 4/11/1934, with much of the construction labour being undertaken by church members, on a voluntary basis. The church held its 25th anniversary in November 1959, prior to which the building was painted and the glass replaced in the windows. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 24/12/2019 & 25/10/2026.
