The St John's Lutheran Church, Auburn is part of the Lutheran District South Australia-Northern Territory and the Lutheran Church of Australia. The church building was originally built for the Primitive Methodist Church, and was opened on 10/10/1859. The church subsequently closed and the building was sold about 1888 to an Orange Lodge for use as a hall. After many years it was purchased by the Lutheran church, and consecrated on 5/9/1926 as the St John's Lutheran Church. A vestry and porch were later added to the building by St John's. Prior to the opening of their new place of worship, members of the church had met in a building on a local farm in Leasingham and at the Pine Creek Lutheran Chapel.
