A plaque records: St Patrick's Hall - Darling St Ipswich - Completed in October 1879 and designed by architect - Mr J Farrelly St Patrick's Hall when completed cost - 250 pounds and would seat 150 ~ 200 people. - The objectives for which the hall was built were as a - meeting place for members of the St Patrick's Benefit - Society, a library, reading room, lecture hall and in fact - to be at the disposal of all catholics for all catholic purposes. - Purchased in 1998 and extensively renovated by its current owners - St Patrick's Hall is now presented as the Darling St Centre. - Please enjoy your visit with us. A plaque records: Heritage Place - St Mary's Catholic Church - ... The present St Mary's Church built in 1904 based on a design by F D G Stanley is actually the third church to be - located within the precinct. The first church was a simplw - timber building that was replaced by a stone church in - 1858.
