A plaque setting out a brief history records:

  • The Anglicans founded Christ Church in 1868. It was
    •  demolished by cyclone in 1885 and rebuilt using the original timbers
    • decommissioned and stripped for demolition in 1996 but saved when chapel and cemetery were Heritage Listed
    • restored by the Friends of Tingalpa Cemetery Heritage Group Inc with permission of the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane
  • The chapel is now available for civil and religious weddings.

The Tingalpa Pioneers' Chapel building is owned by The Diocese of Brisbane, although it is now only used for private ceremonies. The chapel is no longer consecrated. However, on Saturday 27/10/2018, the 150th anniversary of the consecration of the Christ Church Anglican Church building by Bishop Edward Tufnell was celebrated.  No other details are known about the former church.
