The church was established in 1898, with prior meetings taking place in private homes. On 2/4/1949 South Brisbane celebrated it's Golden Jubilee, with Pastor C H Watson as guest speaker.

On 14/5/1960 the current site was purchased. A Baptist Church stood on the site which was relocated.The new church was opened on 9/6/1963 by President Pr Parmenter.
