The Clayfield Uniting Church, Wooloowin has an interesting background, including amalgamations and different denominations along the way.

We can begin with the Eagle Junction Congregational Church - Former: known previously as the United Methodist Free Church, Eagle Farm Junction (later Eagle Junction). The church building was erected in stages. The first was a small chapel in 1865 at nearby Kedron Brook. This was later moved and joined to the main Bonney Avenue building of 1889. When the four branches of Methodism united in 1901, the Eagle Junction Church in Bonney Avenue withheld its consent and became a Congregational Church. Its Minister, Rev W Osborne Lilley, FRHS, opposed his congregation’s decision but another Free Methodist Minister, also declining the union, Rev Edward Brown, was called to become the first minister of Eagle Junction Congregational Church. In 1975, Eagle Junction Congregational Church joined with Wooloowin Methodist Church to become the Bonney Avenue Cooperative Parish (now Clayfield Uniting Church).

More historical information/photographs of the church(es)/congregation(s) are invited. Photographs uploaded 2/3/2017.
