Foundation stone of the first church building records: This foundation stone - of The First Church in Queensland - under the Patronage of - Blessed Teresa of Lisieux - (The Little Flower) - was blessed and laid by - +James, Archbishop of Brisbane - on 27th May 1923.

Three months after opening the church was destroyed by a cyclone on 26/1/1924.

The foundation stone for the replacement building laid by Archbishop James Duhig records: The foundation stone - of the original church - destroyed by cyclone -  on Saturday 26th January 1924 - was relaid - 27th April 1924.
