The former St Peter's Anglican Church, Mount Alford was opened on 25/10/1919 by His Grace, The Archbishop of Brisbane, St Clair Donaldson. The final service was held on 25/12/1969. Land had been donated for the erection of a church building by Mrs F M Bowman of Denelgin, but this was exchanged for a more central location before it was erected. Most of the materials and furnishings for the wooden church building were provided by the the church community. Before the building was erected, services had been held in the Bowman's home, and from about 1888, the Mount Alford School, which had opened. The church building was dismantled and removed from the site about 1973/4. A Bell family headstone and memorial still exists at the site (now Bowman Park), together with a plaque marking the church location. The Bell family had been loyal supporters of the church over many years. More historical Information/photographs of the former church/congegation are invited. Photographs uploaded 20/10/2022.
