The original St Philip's church was dedicated on 18/10/1886 by William Webber, Bishop of Brisbane, Nathaniel Dawes, Rector. Extensively damaged by a cyclone on 6/12/1905 it was substantially rebuilt and extended. It was rededicated 1/4/1906 by St Clair Donaldson, Archbishop of Brisbane. The old church was destroyed by fire on 28/11/1954. The present church was consecrated by Reginald Halse, Archbishop of Brisbane 1/12/1955. John Johnston- Rector.
