The Punchbowl Baptist Church is affiliated with the Baptist Churches of NSW & ACT. The church was established on 28/6/1928, when 40 Baptists, led by a Mr & Mrs Tuck, gathered in an estate agents office for the specific purpose of establishing a church. The first service was held on 1/7/1928, in the local Keys Hall (now demolished). The first church building was opened on 19/9/1931, which became the church hall after the present building was opened. By 1955, the need for a larger building was clear, and plans for a larger structure began. The present church building, with a seating capacity of 554, was opened and dedicated on 24/8/1957, by the Rev A C Prior, Vice President Baptist Union of Australia. 1,250 people attended the opening. After the new building was opened an All Age Sunday School was introduced, where numbers grew to 650 enrolments. A Punchbowl Arabic Church is now also hosted at the facilities. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 28/12/2020 & 2/12/2025.
