A group led by Mr Douglas Watt began holding Presbyterian services in a small room in the Memorial Hall (RSL) Mortdale in July 1930. Services continued in the hall until a timber church building was consecrated and named the Mortdale-Oatley Presbyterian Church, about 1939. A new church building was erected in 1960. In 1975, the Hurstville Grove, St David's Presbyterian Church amalgamated with it. About this time St Matthew's also seems to have merged with it.
Another church, the South Peakhurst Church, was begun in 1950 by some members of the Mortdale-Oatley Presbyterian Church. It was named St Matthew's Presbyterian Church. It appers to have joined Mortdale-Oatley and St David's around 1975.
In December 1976 the Mortdale-Oatley Presbyterian Church adopted the name St Stephen's. In June 1977 it became part of the Uniting Church.
The church was subsequently closed, and the buildings sold to the Christadelphians in 1996.1
