The St John the Baptist Anglican Church, 'is the oldest Anglican Church (then Church of England) in Nambucca and was originally located in Ridge St. Services started there in 1905 and in 1906, the wooden cross from the wreck of the SS Albany was presented to the Church.
By 1958, a bigger meeting place was needed and so, services were moved to the School of Arts. In those days, Good Friday services were so packed that seats were borrowed from the Primary School and Police Station.
In 1960, the congregation moved to the new Church building on the corner of Kent and Short Streets.' 1 More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 24/4/2020.
