The Sts Mary & Ambrose Catholic Church, Pottsville is built on land donated by Mary and Ambrose Brown, after whom the church is named. The church was opened on 20/3/1983 by the Bishop of Lismore, Most Rev John Satterthwaite and Parish Priest Fr. Tom McEvoy.
"Mass was first celebrated in Cudgera in 1919 at the home of Mary and Louis Murname, later the home of Mary and Ambrose Brown. Mass was celebrated in that same home for 30 years. Worthy of note is that Bishop John Carroll, Bishop of Lismore at the time, was one of those who celebrated mass at the home in Cudgera."
