His Lordship also Intended to lay the foundation of a new church at Pitt Town, but the unpropitiousness of the elements will prevent that event from taking place for a time. The Pitt Town Anglican Church is part of the Parish of Pitt Town and the Diocese of Sydney. The church functions in conjunction with the St Mary's Anglican Church, Wisemans Ferry. This was the first specific church building to be erected in Pitt Town, earlier services being held in various school buildings from the 1820s. The church building was completed and in use from 1858, but not consecrated until 11/4/1859, by Bishop Barker. The sandstone church building was designed by architect Edmund Blacket and constructed by Thomas Collison. More historical information/photographs of the church (formerly St James' Anglican Church)/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 27/4/2018.
