| Foundation Stone Notes: | (Dubbo Dispatch - 29 August 1911) "Narromine. (FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT) Sunday last was an important era for the adherents of the Catholic Church, when a large assemblage was present to witness the laying of the foundation stone of a new building. The ceremony, which was most impressive, was conducted by his Lordship Bishop Dunne, of Bathurst". Foundation stone of the second church was laid on 27/8/1911 by Bishop Dunne. The text on the founadtion stone is not known. Information/photographs are invited. A plaque records: Centenary of Federation - 1901 ~ 2001 - St Augustine's Church - First church was wooden - Building built 1894 - R eplaced by a brick structure on - site of present presbytery 1912 ~ 1932 - Destroyed by tornado ~ 1932 - Church rebuilt on present site - Opened 16th July 1933. |

(Dubbo Dispatch - 6 September 1912) "CATHOLIC CHURCH AT NARROMINE. At Narromine on Sunday the new Catholic Church (St. Augustine's) will be formally opened for service. The dedication ceremony will be performed by Bishop Dunn. A Rev. Father of the Passionist Order will preach the openlng sermon. Subsequent to the ceremony, the ladies will entertain the parishioners and visitors at a banquet".
(Sydney Morning Herald - 2 February 1932) "CYCLONE Sweeps Towns IN THE WEST. Buildings Razed to the Ground. CHURCHES AND HOUSES. Damage estimated at £40,000 was done by a cyclone which struck Narromine late yesterday afternoon. The Roman Catholic Church, the golf clubhouse, Everingham's garage, and Leadbeater's store, were destroyed. The electric light system was completely disorganised, and it Is calculated that it will take 10 or 12 days to restore it. Numbers of cottages were demolished, and scores of homes were unroofed. Many persons are now homeless. The Methodist Church, Western Stores, the Imperial, Federal, and Courthouse hotels, the Public school, the Town Hall, the wheat silos, Stanley's garage, and the tennis club-house were seriously damaged.
(Narromine News - 14 July 1933) "NARROMINE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH. This Sunday. Sunday next, 16th instant, will be a red-letter day for Narromine when large crowds will congregate here to take part in the ceremonies and festivities associated with the opening of the new Catholic Church".
