(Sydney Morning Herald - 13 November 1928)   "NEW ANGLICAN CHURCH. PEAK HILL, Monday. Dr. Crotty, Bishop of Bathurst, on Saturday afternoon laid the foundation stone of the new Anglican Church, which, it is estimated, will cost £2500.

Foundation stone records:  This stone was set - by - The Right Reverend - Horace Crotty DD - Lord Bishop of Bathurst - 10th Nov 1928 - E T Pearce Rector.

A plaque on the gate pillar records: A M D G - In loving memory of - Jacob Matthews - Died 4th Aug. 1908 - Aged 62 Years - Mary Ann Matthews - Died 6th Aug. 1932 - Aged 82 Years - Erected by their son - A J Matthews - Restored by their descendants - 1994.

The St Stephen's Anglican Church, Peak Hill is part of the Parish of Parkes and the Diocese of Bathurst. It was opened on 26/7/1930.

(Sydney Morning Herald - 29 July 1930)   "NEW CHURCH DEDICATED. PEAK HILL, Monday. The dedication of St. Stephen's new Church of England, which was recently erected at a cost of £2,231, took place on Saturday In the presence of a large gathering. The ceremony was performed by the Vicar-General of the Bathurst diocese (Archdeacon Howell), who was assisted by the sub-Dean of the Cathedral (Rev. Canon Holmes) and a number of visiting clergy from the surrounding districts."

Extensions were added to the church in 1958 and dedicated in 1960.
