A plaque on the gate pillar records: In gratitude to Almighty God - for a century of worship - in the Sacred Heart Church, Murringo, - and to honour the Pioneers of the District - these gates were re-erected by - Murringo Parishioners - on June 1, 1976.

The Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Murringo is part of the Parish of Young and the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. It was opened on 15/7/1877 by the Right Rev Dr Lanigan. Over the years additions and alterations have been made to the original building, to meet the needs of the congregation.
