The former St Matthew's Anglican Church, Leadville closed in 1994, and the property was sold. The first church building was erected about 1892, on the site of the former Post Office in Garland Street. This building which was of slab construction, and was moved in 1918 to Hannah's Bridge, where it was re-erected and named St Luke's. The present church building was erected between 1914-1917, opening on 29/9/1917. It was erected on land donated by Mr C L Garland.
