The first Baptist meeting in the Upper Mountains was held in a cottage at Blackheath in 1886, and in 1888 a mission hall was built in Blackheath. In 1916, under the leadership of J A Packer, the president of the Baptist Union of NSW, and a generous donor, Mrs W Buckingham, the Katoomba congregation formed and erected the present Katoomba Baptist Church building. It was opened on 1/1/1917. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 30/10/2019 & 31/3/2020.
