The Jamberoo Abbey Church is home to a community of Benedictine nuns, which had its beginnings when they were invited to come to Australia by the Archbishop of Sydney, John Bede Polding, to help him build a church based on Benedictine principles and practices. They arrived in 1848, with a Benedictine community first established at Rydalmere, now at Jamberoo. When Rydalmere was claimed by industry, the community moved in 1957 and built a new Monastery at Pennant Hills. In 1988 they felt that suburbia was encroaching on their community life again and needed to move. This time they moved to Jamberoo and established the Abbey Church at Jamberoo. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 17/1/2025.
